Call for Graduate Clinical Students: Join the Future of Group Psychotherapy!
Ilana Ander, MHC-LP
Are you passionate about understanding how people heal and grow together?
Division 49: Society of Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy invites graduate students to become part of a vibrant community dedicated to advancing the practice and science of group therapy.
Group psychotherapy is one of the most powerful tools we have for fostering emotional growth, reducing distress, and building connection across the lifespan. It bridges all therapeutic orientations—from CBT and psychodynamic to interpersonal and experiential approaches—offering a rich space to deepen self-awareness, strengthen emotion regulation, and explore the dynamics that shape our relationships.
Despite its proven impact and central place in mental health care, group therapy is often underrepresented in training and practice. Division 49 is working to change that—by creating community, sharing knowledge, and inspiring the next generation of group clinicians.
As student representatives, we’re building opportunities for you to connect and grow—through informal gatherings, networking events, and engaging talks with leaders in the field. Whether you’re new to group work or already passionate about it, you’ll find a welcoming space to learn, collaborate, and be inspired.
